Midem Artist Accelerator – Cannes (FR), 4-7 June 2019

The Midem Artist Accelerator is an exclusive bootcamp fof artists and their entourages. Designed to support managers, agents, labels and publishers as they look to grow their artists’ profiles globally. It’s a unique opportunity to access Midem business expertise in export and innovative solutions. Each year, 11 promising artists are beeing picked by an elite Artistic Committee from around the world. MAA give an opportunity to play live on the beautiful beach of Cannes, to benefit from a tailored 360 degrees programme onsite with key players from the global music community. This programme ofers also the entry to selected conferences, learning and coaching sessions with industry mentors and networking opportunities.

Afro-European music residency in Addis Ababa (ET), Europe Day 9 May 2019

As part of the 2019 Europe Day celebrations the EU Delegation to the African Union will organise a two-week music residency in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The residency will bring together musicians from Europe and Africa recruited through a selection process following an open call. All eligible musicians are invited to apply.

Throughout the period of the residency, the artists will collaborate to create original musical pieces that carry a fusion of authentic sounds from the two continents. The final works of the residency (3 music tracks) will be recorded and packaged as an EP, as well as performed at a live concert in Addis Ababa during Europe Day. The concert will also be the occasion for the European and African musicians to present their respective repertoires. During the two weeks, the artists will also visit music schools in the city to give brief workshops to students.

The experience will be filmed and turned into a short documentary film. Musicians must accept to appear in this film, which will also be disseminated online.

Points to consider:

  • The residency will host up to 6 African and 6 European musicians

  • A 15 day commitment will be required from end of April until the second week of May during which artists will be in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

  • All related costs of musicians such as accommodation, travel expenses, meals, insurance and local transport will be covered

  • The ownership of the finished products of the residency (e.g. the EP), including copyright and other intellectual property rights, will be vested to the EU. Artists will have the right to publicise their participation in the project.

  • A honorarium will be provided to the musicians.

Criteria for selection of musicians:

  • Nationals of an AU or EU Member State and currently residing in Africa or Europe

  • Previous experience collaborating with other musicians in a multicultural context

  • Experience in giving workshops about music

  • Experience in giving public performances (number of concerts, location and estimated attendance)

  • Experience with media appearances (e.g. newspaper, TV or radio interviews)

Spring Break - Poznań (PL), 25-27 April 2019

On Monday January 14, recruitment for artists who would like to present themselves to representatives of the Polish and foreign music industry during this year's sixth edition of the largest Polish showcase festival, Poznań Spring Break, has just begun. Last year, the event was visited by 400 delegates from Poland and abroad. The festival audience is in total of 5,000 participants. You can submit using the Gigmit platform until February 10, 2019.

The Great Escape – Brighton (UK), 9-11 May 2019

TGE is one of the largest showcase festivals in Europe. It has been organized continuously since 2006. Every year nearly 300 artists and bands from around the world perform on 30 club stages around Brighton. The festival is accompanied by a music convention for music industry representatives.

FIRA Mediterrània – Manresa (Catalonia, ES), 10-13 October 2019

Announcement for performers and bands from world music & folk and cross-over projects combining visual arts, circus, dance, exhibitions, music, storytelling and theater. The FIRA trade fair this year will be held on October 10-13, 2019. Last year, more than 1,100 booking agents from 29 countries visited the trades. 31st Mercat de Música Viva de Vic (Catalonia, ES), 18-21 September 2019

MMVV is one of the most prestigious music events in Catalonia. It takes place from 1989, in the month of September and lasts for 3-5 days. The format of the event is a trade fair, during which concerts, congresses and exhibitions are organized. Professionals from all industries and music entertainment meet here. During each edition about 100 live performances are beeing programmed, which take place on 14 stages spread throughout the city. It covers various musical genres: jazz, ethno, folk, rock, pop, classical or flamenco music. Exhibitions and congresses are held in the hall (with an area of 1,600 m²), which bring together professionals from the entire music sector (record companies, management companies, public and private institutions, associations, festivals) from all over Europe.

Waves Vienna, 26-28 September 2019

Waves Vienna is a showcase event with a 9 year tradition. This year will be held on 26-28th September. For three days, artists from all over Europe, take over the best club scenes in Vienna and unique spots in public space. In total, over 12 stages annually show over 100 artists and bands, and the festival audience is 13,000 participants! In recent years, such Polish artists as: Trupa Trupa, Coals, Pola Rise, Rebeka, Xxanaxx, Julia Marcell, Artur 8, Coldair, BLCKSHP, Kari Amirian, Novika & Mr Lex, Miloopa, Twilite, SLG, Mike Polarny, Paula i Karol, Öszibarack, Kamp!, Woody Alien and Jacek Sienkiewicz, presented themselves at Waves Vienna.

Moscow Music Week 2019 (the beginning of September)

MMW is an international music conference and the only showcase festival in Russia. During this event you can meet industry professionals from both Eastern and Western Europe, as well as from Asia or the USA. Every year, the MMW team books about 100 bands, both from Russia and abroad.
